How ISO 14001 Certification Works

Designing and implementing your EMS — policies, aspects and impacts registers, legal registers, procedures — is your organization's responsibility, done internally or with a consultant of your choosing. Company Certification International's role begins once you are ready to be assessed:

1. Application Review

We confirm scope, sites and eligibility for audit.

2. Stage 1 Audit

A documentation and readiness review against ISO 14001:2015.

3. Stage 2 Audit

An audit of your EMS in operation.

4. Independent Certification Decision

A decision maker independent of the audit team decides whether to certify.

5. Certificate and Annual Surveillance

Certificates are valid three years, with annual surveillance audits.
